Mountain Weather Information Service to Continue

I blogged earlier about a threat to the future of the Mountain Weather Information Service. This specialist service is widely used by hillwalkers but as part of a funding dispute with The Met. Office and the Scottish Executive, there were concerns that it would be unable to continue.
All parties met yesterday and The Herald reports that

' ....the Met Office will continue to produce its forecasts highlighting main hazards while MWIS will provide its own detailed forecasts'.

Glad to see a sensible solution.
