Mountain Weather Forecasts

The BBC reports that the specialist forecasting service provided by the Mountain Weather Information Service may be under threat. The free service is based in Galloway and has been tailored over the years to meet the specific needs of those going to the hills. The Met. Office in Aberdeen is seemingly keen to develop their service and it's thought it may be better positioned to attract government funding. According to the report, a meeting is to be held next month to discuss the way forward.
Whatever that is, the need for good, clear and accessible forecasts is as essential as ever. And given technological developments should there not be funding to allow people to access the latest information via their mobile phones.
